What is a Rental Apartment Agreement?
Agreements that document the rental terms for apartments are called rental apartment agreements. In a large portion of Konya rental apartment listings, it is observed that both landlords and tenants strictly prefer to sign an agreement. These agreements aim to protect the rights of both landlords and those wishing to rent these apartments, and they must be made for every rental transaction. The lease agreement is the written form of the commitments made verbally by the parties, and its importance becomes even more apparent when considering that verbal statements cannot be proven in case of disputes. In our increasingly globalizing country, social relations are degenerating at a great pace, and in this regard, documenting the terms of agreement in writing for every transaction is becoming important.
How to Make an Apartment Lease Agreement
To create an agreement, you can visit your nearest notary public to draft a lease agreement, or you can create your own agreement by downloading a lease agreement template from the internet and making the necessary changes. However, to avoid future problems in mutually agreed-upon agreements, extreme care must be taken when filling out the agreement, and at the end of the agreement, it must be signed by both the tenant and the landlord, and both parties must support these signatures with a witness. This will guarantee the legal validity of the agreement in case of disputes.
Generally, lease agreements are made for a duration of one year. In the event of the cancellation of an ongoing lease agreement, if the tenant is the one canceling the agreement, they are obliged to pay the rental fee to the landlord. For example, if a tenant with a monthly rent of 500 lira cancels the agreement in the 3rd month, they must pay the remaining 9 months' rent, which is 4,500 lira, to the landlord in cash as soon as they vacate the property. However, if problems arise that make it impossible to live in the rented property, such as the water not running or the electricity not working, and these issues are not due to the tenant's fault, the tenant has the right to unilaterally terminate the agreement, and the agreement will be considered terminated without the payment of compensation.
