High Fever in Babies and Children
High Fever in Babies and Children
High fever, which is considered among childhood illnesses, is not actually a disease but a symptom of illness. High fever, which occurs due to various diseases in the body, should be monitored very closely, and in case of a possibility of convulsions, if the fever rises to 40 degrees and above, immediate medical attention should be sought at the nearest health institution.
How to Lower High Fever?
There are many different methods that can be applied to lower high fever. The first of these is to wash the baby or child with lukewarm water and, after the bath, dress them lightly and let them lie down without covering them. Again, placing a soft cloth dipped in a vinegar-water mixture on different areas such as the forehead, armpits, and soles of the feet will help lower the fever after a while. Babies and children with fever that does not decrease despite all interventions or that rises above 40 degrees should be taken to the doctor immediately.
