The internet is connected to research institutions, universities, public institutions, and commercial organizations. The internet has different hardware for its information. Software and operating systems are known as UNIX, LINUX, DOS, WINDOWS, MOS, and they enable computers with these features to communicate with each other.
No one owns the internet. Universities, public institutions, and commercial institutions form the structure and framework of the internet's operation. Internet users access information through these institutions. The computers of these institutions and organizations are never turned off and cannot be turned off. These computers are also called servers.
The first internet connection in Turkey was made on April 10, 1993. In the early years of connection, it was only used in specific locations. TÜBİTAK and some universities were allowed to use it. While connections were made through ODTÜ and Ege University, today, anyone can easily connect through Internet Service Providers.
